Frequently asked questions

No there is no need to pre-book a farm tour. We leave bags of feed in each yurt so guests are welcome to feed the animals at any time during their stay. We also invite our guests to join us at the barn to show the evening routine and share more stories about us, farm and the animals.

This is not possible due to limited floor space especially during the cold seasons as there is a wood stove in the centre of the yurt that will be on and can be a safety hazard.

Check-in is at 3pm Check-out is at 11am Early check in is not available due to the time it takes to clean each yurt. There is plenty of time to spend with the animals the day of arrival and before you check out.

We send a confirmation email upon booking which provides the majority of information. 5 days before arrival we send arrival instructions and updates and 3 days before arrival we send an ETA request and details of our available seasonal produce for sale.

Our yurts are around 20m from each other and the washroom is central, between the yurts. A new permanent washroom facility will be installed in 2024.

We offer free time with the animals and provide feed to get close to them for fun and photos. A farm tour is held each evening when putting the animals in the barn. A fire pit BBQ and propane stove are provided for cooking or S'mores. Dunnville, Smithville and Wine Country are all a short drive for restaurants and wine.

A yurt is a portable, circular dwelling made of a lattice frame and poles and covered in insulator felt and weatherproof fabric. They are a sturdy, reliable type of tent. Yurts have been the primary style of home in Central Asia, particularly Mongolia, for thousands of years.

Our yurts are sourced from a Canadian supplier who believes in sustainability and tradition. They are mostly handmade in Mongolia with deep rooted links to the history of yurt living.

Yurts are warm, breathable and rich in tradition, connecting the earth to the sky providing shelter in both rustic and modern environments.
