Our Yurts

Story Behind The Yurts

The yurts at Riverside Oasis Farm & Retreat are a meaningful part of the property’s story. Long before the business was established, the original founders envisioned having yurts as a guest experience - an idea inspired by their time living and working in Kazakhstan. Though they couldn’t source yurts directly from there, they discovered Groovy Yurts, a Canadian company that imports hand-crafted yurts from Mongolia. These authentic structures were brought to life on the farm, offering guests a unique and memorable stay rooted in nomadic tradition.

Today, we’re proud to carry that legacy forward. The yurts offer the same magic, authenticity, and connection to nature that first inspired their place on the property. While the story of how they arrived here belongs to those who came before us, we are honoured to continue sharing the experience with each new guest.

We're excited to add our own chapter to the Riverside Oasis story while continuing to offer this truly special style of accommodation.

Take a peek at the photo gallery of the first yurt being constructed on our property. It took 6-8 hours and no tools or nails were needed!

“What a getaway! Our stay in the Kandy yurt was a perfect way to decompress. Lots of firewood was available to heat the yurt and visiting with the animals was probably my favourite part. We appreciated the farm tour and enjoyed learning about the farm and the animals. We can’t wait to book again for when the weather is warmer! - Zorka Lane”

“We had such a great time at Riverside Oasis Farm. The yurt was nice and warm when we arrived and my children loved the experience of feeding all the animals. There was a great setup of cooking equipment and the provided eggs were a wonderful way to further connect with the farm. Assyl was a lovely host and provided our family with a wonderful local "escape." Highly recommend in any season.”

Where Nature Meets Unforgettable Memories

frequently asked questions

No there is no need to pre-book a farm tour. We leave bags of feed in each yurt so guests are welcome to feed the animals at any time during their stay. We also invite our guests to join us at the barn to show the evening routine and share more stories about us, farm and the animals.

This is not possible due to limited floor space especially during the cold seasons as there is a wood stove in the centre of the yurt that will be on and can be a safety hazard.

Check-in is at 3pm and Check-out is at 11am. Early check-in (1pm) and / or late check-out (1pm) can be purchased at the time of booking subject to availability.

We send a confirmation email upon booking which provides the majority of information. 5 days before arrival we send arrival instructions and updates and 3 days before arrival we send an ETA request and details of our available seasonal produce for sale.

We currently provide portable washrooms (porta potties) located just 20 feet from the yurts. They are professionally cleaned and serviced regularly to ensure a comfortable and hygienic experience. We are working on building permanent washroom and shower facilities, and will update this page as soon as they are completed.

We offer free time with the animals and provide feed to get close to them for fun and photos. A farm tour is held each evening when putting the animals in the barn. A fire pit BBQ and propane stove are provided for cooking or S'mores. Dunnville, Smithville and Wine Country are all a short drive for restaurants and wine.
